Union Square Cafe

Judy Rifka Signature Installation

Private Dining Room at Union Square Cafe

When Danny Meyer reopened his seminal Union Square Cafe last week, he brought to his new location at 19th and Park not just the same great gnocchi but the same great art by the one and only Judy Rifka. He, along with the Rockwell Group, could've brought any artist on board for the project but instead chose to keep with the paintings Mr. Meyer commissioned/purchased from Judy nearly 30 years ago and, most spectacularly, placed them prominently in the main bar area and private dinning room (see pics). As someone who believes fully in Judy Rifka's art-world importance, I see this as an great omen: if the man who brought you Shake Shack is still betting big on Judy Rifka, so too will a great many others.
